A Personal Journey, A Dream for All

Picture
The history of Yoga 4 Youth spans nearly 15 years and is the story of a personal journey of its founder Katherine Dalton-Brown Long. An optometrist by profession and mother of two, Katherine’s encounter with yoga began after seeing first hand the dramatic improvement that physical therapy had on her son’s performance in school. The relationship between physical movement and mental cognitivity fascinated Katherine, a graduate in Optometry and Neuroscience, and inspired her to enroll in a yoga teacher training programme in the hope of sharing her knowledge and experience with other children and young adults.
Upon completing her training, Katherine began teaching adult hatha yoga classes, an experience she immensely enjoyed, but the deep yearning to teach children continued to nag at Katherine and in 2010 she attended further training in New York, US. When she returned, Katherine began offering children’s yoga at summer camps and later that year, joined Akasha Studio in Maraval where she formally established “Yoga 4 You * Yoga 4 Youth” – a program offering yoga classes for youth and for those wishing to maintain and nurture their inner fountain of youth.

"I left the corporate arena in the field of Human Resources a  little under two years ago to pursue a full time photography  career.  My path to teaching yoga has been nothing short of serendipity. I completed the teachers training in July of 2014 and apprenticed at Yoga 4 Youth immediately.

"A few months later I continued teaching at the studio as well as vacation camps. It is an amazing experience teaching yoga to children. I've been able to marry my experience as an HR professional in training and development and my new careers as a photographer and yoga teacher into what I would call human development. Honoured to be part of the Yoga 4 Youth team as we support the unfolding and blossoming of the youth in our midst."

Cashell Watson

Picture
“Yoga is how I find balance in all aspects of my life; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Amongst many things yoga teaches me patience, trust and balance.”

Cashell’s love of yoga was sparked in 2012 after being introduced to it by her mom. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Rollins College she went on to complete her 200 hour RYT with Yandara Yoga, in Baja, Mexico (2015), and then her 85 hour PRYT with Yoga Garden San Francisco in California (2016).

In her vinyasa and prenatal classes one can expect to be invigorated and inspired whilst building strength through mindful movement (asanas) and breath work (pranayama). Through her yin classes, a slower paced practice, one will experience a sense of peace and a deeper mind-body connection. As a teacher, Cashell highlights the benefits of yoga and encourages her students to embrace their own unique style of practice whilst taking what they learn off of their mat and into their everyday life.

Teheli Sealey

Teheli discovered her love of yoga by chance in 2010. Seeking "balance" in her life, she turned to yoga in the hopes of keeping fit while at the same time getting stress relief from a high pressured job. Six years later, her sole joy in practicing yoga is the union it brings in the connecting with the inner self.

Teheli comes from a strong background of health and fitness as both a Personal Trainer and Health Coach and has a deep love and appreciation of nature and the outdoors. She incorporates a strong yoga practice which focuses on yogic principles of awareness of movement and its importance in creating stillness of the mind and body to enhance the practice of meditation.

She is a Bliss Yoga Level 1 IYAR 500 teacher and has been teaching yoga since August 2015.
